Get Creative with Interval Shooting and Time-lapse Movies
With the TG-3’s Interval Shooting function, you can set when you want the camera to start shooting (from 1 second to 24 hours), then select intervals from as long as 24 hours to as short as 1 second and snap up to 99 frames. These images can then be compiled automatically into a time-lapse movie lasting up to 10 seconds (720p at 10 fps).
Get Up Close – Really Close!
Mountain panoramas are great, but sometimes you want to zero in on subtler forms of natural beauty (like snowflakes or dew). The TG-3 offers four different modes for macro shooting, including Microscope, Microscope Control (a maximum magnification of 44.5x is possible from a distance of 1cm), Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking (in which multiple images, from foreground to background, are taken and the areas in focus are automatically merged into one perfect shot).
Expand Your Rugged System with Useful Accessories
Another thing that sets the TG-3 apart from other rugged cameras is its family of accessories (sold separately). The waterproof fisheye converter (FCON-T01) gives you the ability to capture gorgeous wide-angle shots; thanks to the bright f2.0 lens, even dark underwater scenes pop. The waterproof tele converter (TCON-T01) increases the camera’s zoom capability from 4x to nearly 7x, and allows you to highlight the subject by blurring the background. I had this for a week and every time I use it, I kept getting more amazed. Previously I owned a TG-1 and later a TG-2. Between both, there was not much practical difference other than the high speed video and a more flexible macro mode. But TG-3 is several steps above TG-2 with the new sensor and ridiculously superb microscope mode. The level of magnification and clarity is just out of the world. Now, I do a lot of macro work on DSLR and OM-D, owning 2 macro lenses but TG-3 put it into another level in terms of magnification. Macro junkies will definitely going to love this.
Another thing I love is the auto image stacking. Once I got the camera I didn't even bother to put it on a tripod. I just parked my hand on a desk and hold the camera steady while it takes several successive shots. The result is very pleasing although it may not compete against manually stacked images using DSLR. It's fun though and easy to use. Best of all I can share it immediately via smartphone. I am going to mass produce stacked images into instagram soon.
The wifi capability is easy to connect but with my Galaxy Note 3 I have to disable my mobile data otherwise the wifi cannot connect properly. Once it is connected, data transfer is seamless and stable. The app in android is a bit cumbersome to select multiple images so I hope Olympus can improve this soon.
If you want to fully utilize the microscope mode, get the ring light reflector add-on. It really helps to give even lighting and you can just place the camera face down on the subject. I could see individual pixels from my Note 3 which is over 300ppi.
Image quality is excellent for a waterproof compact. It uses the same lens as TG-1 and TG-2 which is a bit disappointing but then that helps to keep the price low.

I have had it less than an hour and I'm very happy with it.
Quick Highlights (if you don't like to read big reviews):
-I have owned two other Tough cameras. And love them.
-This is a bit heavy/bulky, but still not bad. Price you pay for wifi.
-WiFi feature is great for sharing a picture when not near a computer. And the shutter/live view feature is great. Both will come in handy for me and one of the reasons I chose this camera.
-Great picture quality!!!
-FAST turn on. Take a picture in less than 1 sec! Amazing.
-Some neat, though maybe unnecessary features, like the photo effects. (can always apply them after using your phone app!)
-High speed video (slow mo) recording, two speeds.
-Don't like the strap.
-Has picture orientation. (Take a picture while camera is on it's side, it flips it for you).

I have previously owned a Stylus Tough 8000. I also have a Stylus Tough TG-310 that my mother bought and never used so she gave it to my kids. We were very happy with the 8000 and it lasted us at least 4 years. I was washing it off after using it at the beach and then noticed a compartment door was open! DOH!!! I opened it up 100% and let it sit overnight and it still worked pretty well, but decided to get a new one just for personal comfort/reliability.
The TG-310 isn't as nice as the 8000. There is plastic on it my daughter ripped.
Anyways! This TG-3 with Wi-Fi!!! Feels much heavier compared to my other two Tough cameras! It's bigger and bulkier too. That's what happens when you put a wi-fi in a camera though, right? It's convenient to be able to connect my phone to the camera and download a photo!

I consider myself an intermediate to advanced Macro Photographer. Which means I take a lot of pictures of bugs and flowers. So, when I heard rumors of a camera that could do "Focus stacking" right in the camera and focus bracketing I preordered one. It arrived today. I installed the very substantial wrist strap, a SD memory chip, (32 gigabytes not included) and the battery (Included) and charged it up. In the meantime I read the quickstart guide, and downloaded the software on the provided CD. It includes the full owner's manual. Then I went for a long walk in the woods and along the local river. Even in "normal" focus mode it allows you to get pretty close. "Micro Mode" is where it really shines. There is an array of functions to help you get good macro images and beyond. In micro mode it can magnify as much as 11.1X. In focus stacking mode it acquires 8 exposures, aligns them, and combines them in such a way that the entire field is in focus. (There are some limits to this wizardry.) So does this replace my big DSLR with a designated Macro lens? No. It does allow me one more arrow in my quiver though when I go for a walk in the woods.
